Ohh Politicians

I don't know about you, but it seems to me as if the majority of the Meg Whitman vs Jerry Brown debates are spent on tearing each other down instead of promoting their individual campaigns. Both candidates do this. They seem to take the question they are given, address it, and then turn it around so that they can somehow use it to their opponents disadvantage. It seems like they're each more educated on the other person's flaws than on their own policies that they're trying to promote. I mean I know that this always happens when two people are competing for office, but it just makes me feel like neither candidate is qualified when I know a lot of bad things about each of them but not very many good things about either.

  1. I completely agree. Basically, whoever can dig up the most dirt about the other has the upper hand. I think this not only is this giving politics a bad name but it is basically showing how to be a poor competitor. Aren't politicians supposed to be leaders and role models?

  2. I feel the same way! So far, i feel like I've heard much more about the candidates flaws from the opposing candidate than I have heard about either's policies or plans of action. These people are supposed to be showing us what will make them be the ones that give our state the brightest future, but the way they are both campaigning is a little depressing. I would think that out of the 36 million people in California that we could come up with some better candidates.

  3. I totally agree with you Deirdre, it seems like politicians, especially lately, always look at and promote the flaws of the opposing side, rather than actually telling the voters what they want to do to make a positive change.

  4. I agree. With the amount of bad mouthing the other candidate people are getting tired of hearing the things the candidates are saying. They are too busy saying why the other candidate should not be elected when I think they should be more focused on promoting why they should be elected.
